5/5/09 - Fitzpatrick Woolmer Creative gets the thumbs up

The creative skills of Fitzpatrick Woolmer, providers of creative solutions to enhance public and open spaces, recently won over some of the UK’s most small-minded critics as part of a project to grow awareness for British Waterways.

Brenfield Primary SchoolLongstanding client, British Waterways, put some of Fitzpatrick Woolmer’s creative work to the test as they incorporated it into an activity session for youngsters from Brentfield Primary School. A 7.5m long banner bearing a creative map was used to educate the children about the route of the Regents Canal and related interest points, and a cleverly designed interactive board game helped educate the group as to the different methods of coal transportation.

British Waterways have worked on projects that span the breadth of Fitzpatrick Woolmer’s product and service portfolio, from more traditional signage such as finger posts and finger posts, to creative services including creative mapping, illustration and graphic design – Elaine Stanley, Learning Services Officer, British Waterways London comments “The unrolling of the banner map is always greeted by ‘wow’ from the children - they are amazed by the size and fascinated by the detail of the trees and buildings, and they love playing with the board game and forfeit cards. Over 1000 children have used these high quality resources so far and they still look as good as new!”

Brenfield Primary SchoolFitzpatrick Woolmer Managing Director, Mark Woolmer adds “It’s great to be involved in activities that give something back to the local community and that showcase the creative side of the business. It’s very gratifying to learn we have won over some of the most unforgiving critics and that not only did the children really enjoy working with the banner and the board game, but that they have both proved useful tools as part of a wider education programme delivered by British Waterways.”
