Powdercoat Finish
|
Aluminium is a much softer and lighter weight material than stainless steel. It is also much cheaper, but does not have the same level of durability. Although a non-ferrous metal, aluminium will still corrode resulting in a fine white powder forming on the surface of the metal. As a consequence, aluminium must be fully coated with a protective layer, usually powdercoat, to prevent it from breaking down.
Aluminium is best suited to projects where budget is the primary concern, or where large numbers of signs are required, or where vandalism is not an issue. It is available in sheet and tube form, but can also be melted down for casting applications.
