Felixstowe Seafront Gardens, Breheny

About

Working closely with the architects Mott MacDonald and the project leaders Suffolk Coastal District Council, we developed a signage scheme that would compliment the landscaping works taking place along the Felixstowe seafront.

The regeneration of Felixstowe Seafront Gardens was motivated by a need to re-invigorate this place of public leisure and contemplation, and required a complete remodelling of 7 gardens along the coastline. Landscaping works included the planting of new flower beds, the laying of easy access footpaths and decorative features such as wishing wells, ponds and cascading water falls.

To adorn this beautiful landscaping scheme a suite of signs were required that had a traditional edge to reflect Felixstowe’s heritage, but with a modern, contemporary feel. They had to be robust to withstand the rigours of a public open space and the constant exposure to a coastal environment.

Our solution was a combination of fingerpostsinterpretive lecternswelcome signsbadging signs and archways, all manufactured from stainless steel and finished in a durable, anti-graffiti coating. Printed graphic panels were reproduced as full colour n-viro™ prints, offering protection against vandalism and UV degredation.

A further activity trail was introduced to the scheme by the use of bronze plaque signs set into the footpaths, encouraging visitors to follow the trail and explore every corner of this exciting new development.

Our client, Breheny Civil Engineering, were delighted with the service we provided, commenting:

“I thought the service that Fitzpatrick Woomer provided was of an exceptional standard as were the products we received. Excellent communication and knowledge. Helpful in dealing with at times challenging design issues.” -Shaun Gardener
