Frequently asked questions

Where can I find prices?

Quotes are issued on an enquiry by enquiry basis as discounts are available on larger projects and we want to offer our customers the best value. Call 01634 711 771 or email info@fwdp.co.uk to get a quote.

Do you have a catalogue of products?

PDF versions of our catalogues are available or can be posted out on request. Simply contact the office to request your brochure.

Do you offer design services as well?

We have a very experienced design studio offering sign and wayfinding consultation services as well as interpretation design, illustration and mapping. See the Services section of our website for more information.

How do I progress a project?

To make an initial enquiry and to obtain a quote contact one of our Sign and Wayfinding Consultants on 01634 711 771 or email info@fwdp.co.uk. If you are happy with the price quoted we will simply need a purchase order or payment (dependent on account status) to move your project through to design and production.

Should you prefer a face to face consultation to discuss your project we are happy to meet with you, assess your site’s needs and make recommendations for the best products and services.

Are your products in stock?

We hold many standard components in stock allowing us to provide competitive lead times. However, a certain amount of finishing is required, including powdercoating, printing and assembly. Details of lead times can be found in the Features section of Product pages.

Is there a minimum order or project size?

There is no minimum order or project size, we are happy to supply one sign or provide solutions for large scale signage and wayfinding projects.

Do you work nationwide?

We regularly undertake work throughout the UK and Northern Ireland, and ship our products around the globe.

Do you offer installation as well?

We offer a reliable installation service, including site surveys and the preparation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements. Our installation service is covered by a one year guarantee.

How long do your products take to make?

Most standard products are available 4 weeks from placement of order, receipt of payment or sign off of proofs. Bespoke sizes and custom made signs will generally take 6 – 8 weeks. You will find details of lead times in the Product Features on our website.

What sizes are your products?

Most products are available in the standard “A” sizes, A4 (297mm x 210mm), A3 (420mm x 297mm), A2 (594mm x 420mm), A1 (841mm x 594mm) and A0 (1188mm x 841mm), however bespoke sizes can be manufactured to order. You will find details of sizes in the Product Features on our website.

Please note, the sizes specified above are the size of the graphic panel to be held in the frame, not the overall size of the frame. Also note, with certain products the frame will overlap the graphic panel, resulting in a slightly reduced visible area. Contact the office to request a copy of our Client Supplied Artwork Checksheet for further details.

What colours/ finishes are available?

We offer six standard powdercoat colours for metal signs (black – RAL9005, green – RAL6005, blue – RAL5013, white – RAL9010, brown – RAL8017 and red – RAL3004), but can accommodate most colour requests (additional charges may apply).

Timber signs are finished in a Light Oak preservative stain. Other colour preferences can be accommodated upon request (additional charges may apply).

Recycled plastic is available in Western Red Cedar only.

How should artwork be supplied?

Clients can supply print ready artwork in an electronic format either as an attachment to info@fwdp.co.uk or via WeTransfer/ MailBigFile. If you would prefer to post a memory stick or CD please address to Fitzpatrick Woolmer, Unit 7 Lakeside Park, Neptune Close, Rochester, Kent ME2 4LT

Do you work for the private sector as well as local government?

We work across all market sectors and are pleased to supply the public sector and private sector, the general public and trade as well as designers and specifiers.

How long does each material last?

Stainless steel has a life expectancy of over 1000 years and is a highly durable material for external sign manufacture as it never corrodes and is extremely robust.

Oak is a “Class 2” hardwood with a life expectancy of 15 to 25 years. It requires regular maintenance to keep it in good condition and prolong its life. See our maintenance instructions for further details.

Recycled plastic requires no maintenance and has a life expectancy in excess of timber. It never rots and is impervious to insect infestation. We do not recommend this material for sites where vandalism may be a concern.

How is the graphic panel replaced?

Framed signs across all material types have a removable edge held in place by security screws, allowing the graphic panel to be easily updated and securely replaced.

How big do I have to dig the holes for my sign posts?

The size of the footing can vary from one location to another and is dependent on ground make up. This should be determined by a local environmental assessment. Most of our signs are manufactured to allow 600mm of post extending into the ground. Should your sign location not accommodate this it should be discussed prior to placement of order.

How are your products installed?

Most of our signs are manufactured to allow 600mm of post extending into the ground. Should your sign location not accommodate this it should be discussed prior to placement of order.

If you would prefer we undertook the work on your behalf we offer a reliable installation service, including site surveys and the preparation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements. Our installation service is covered by a one year guarantee.
